1.2 Course description
The course is intended to give an overview of the law of the sea. Law of the sea is a branch of public international law which covers the rights and duties of States in each maritime zone, maritime delimitation, marine scientific research, the protection of the marine environment, and dispute settlement. All these topics will be covered in the proposed course.

Learning Outcomes
2.1 Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) for this course
CLO 1 Describe and explain the rights and duties of States in each maritime zone, in relation to marine scientific research and the protection of the marine environment, and the mechanisms for dispute settlement.
CLO 2 Use relevant information critically to assess the developments in the law of the sea over the last century.
CLO 3 Apply the law to real-case scenarios, especially concerning possible disputes between States concerning their rights and duties under the law of the sea.
